Bill Gates quits his day job at Microsoft

Thursday, June 15, 2006

Today I found out that Bill Gates is going to leave his "day job" at Microsoft starting in July 2008. Talk about giving more than two week notice... I guess that is what it takes when your are truly "the man" at your company and the richest man in the world

A man with his brain power to never going to sit idle for very long. He is going to spend more of his time focusing his attention to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

The Gates Foundation is not new. It has been quietly doing wonderful deeds for many years now for countries all over the world. The have helped millions of people with their global health and education work. It will be very exciting to see what Sir Bill does in the near future.

Microsoft will still be in good hands because Gates will continue to serve as the companys chairman and an advisor.

Ray Ozzie takes the reigns from Bill as the Chief Software Architect for the company. Ray has a good track record on delivering quality software.

The Microsoft empire will face a long battle ahead of it with the growing popularity of open source enterprise software.

Full Disclosure Disclaimer: My company (CleverThings.com) converted all of our computer over to Linux and went "Microsoft Free" in 2000.
I own no stock in Microsoft or any other public company.
