Don't Ask, Don't Tell... Don't Work!

As a victim of the failed policy in 1995, I am very proud of the Atlanta City Council for passing resolution 06-R-2141 on October 2nd, 2006, calling on Congress to repeal the federal ..Don..t Ask, Don..t Tell.. ban on lesbian, gay and bisexual service members. The resolution, which calls for passage of the Military Readiness Enhancement Act, a Congressional bill to repeal the law, was introduced by City Council member Anne Fauver.

The Atlanta City Council joins city councils in Chicago, New York, San Francisco, West Hollywood, St. Louis and Cathedral City in calling for repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell The California State Legislature also recently approved a resolution calling for an end to the ban.

The resolution passed with 11-2-3 vote that went like this:
Yea: 11 - (Archibong, Fauver, Hall, Maddox, Moore, Muller, Sheperd, Smith, Willis, Winslow, Young)
Nay: 2 - (Martin, Shook)
Not Voting: 3 - (Borders, Mitchell, Norwood)

The resolution will be sent to Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin for her signature.
