Does a photograph imply an endorsement? What if the subject is dead?

The Matthew Shepard Memorial page on MySpace just published an image of Matt with a political logo and words that say, "Vote for Me / Hillary."

Here is a message I sent to them:

Please remove the logos from the Matthew Shepard images!

Political messages don't belong, and I would feel the same way if it was a religious comment, or a commercial advertisement. No one should benefit from such a tragic story.

The purpose of the memorial is to remember Matthew as HE WAS, and it is disrespectful to speculate who he MIGHT have been or what he might have thought about current events.

Please keep your personal ideas posted on your PERSONAL profiles. Let's let Matthew's story bring people together - not divide us further.

I love Matthew and Hillary, but we need to keep them separated.

Best regards,
