Earth song - Michael Jackson - This Is It

Monday, June 21st, 2010

I think Michael's message is true:With love, we can heal the world!

My favorite moment of "This Is It" was the performance of the Earth song (lyrics are below). With the environmental disaster still growing in the Gulf of Mexico, his words still need to reverberate within our souls.

"I respect the secrets and magic of nature. That's why it makes me so angry when I see these things that are happening here on Earth. That every second, I hear that the size of a football field is torn down in the Amazon. I mean, that kind of stuff really bothers me. That is why I write these kind of songs. It gives some sense of awareness, and awakening, and hope to people. I love the planet. I love trees. I have this thing for trees and the colors and changing of leaves. I love it, and I respect those kind of things."

What about sunrise?
What about rain?
What about all the things
That you said we were to gain?
What about killing fields?
Is there a time?
What about all the things
That you said was yours and mine?
Did you ever stop to notice
All the blood we've shed before?
Did you ever stop to notice
This crying Earth, the weeping shores?

What have we done to the world?
Look what we've done.
What about all the peace
That you pledge your only son?
What about flowering fields?
Is there a time?
What about all the dreams
That you said was yours and mine?
Did you ever stop to notice
All the children dead from war?
Did you ever stop to notice
This crying Earth, the weeping shores?

I used to dream.
I used to glance beyond the stars.
Now I don't know where we are
Although I know we've drifted far.

"I really feel that nature is trying so hard to compensate for man's mismanagement of the planet. Because the planet is sick, like a fever. If we don't fix it now it's at the point of no return. This is our last chance to fix this problem that we have, where it's like a runaway train, and the time has come.. This Is It!"
