Kagan hearings - Alabama: Let's find Senator Jeff Sessions a new job!

Sometimes people are so determined to harm others that they let their true colors shine. This week Alabama Republican Senator Jeff Sessions showed what a backwards ass, incompetent fucking idiot he really is - and it's now time my fellow Alabama voters help Senator Sessions find a new job since leadership clearly isn't his forte.
When we choose Supreme Court justices, it isn't about the personal views of the candidate - it is about their integrity and upholding the law. Their job is to ensure that our justice system is fair to ALL citizens and their personal opinions should never affect their legal decisions. While sitting on the bench, they should be neither Democrat nor Republican, neither liberal nor conservative.
During hearings for Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan, she has been repeatedly attacked over her actions while the Dean at Harvard Law School. Many universities were having trouble recruiting the best and brightest students, so in order to create a respectful and nurturing environment, most schools adopted a policy against any form of discrimination on campus.
Because our military has a policy of discriminating against gays and lesbians, many schools told the recruiters that they wouldn't be welcome on campus unless they were willing to consider ALL qualified students as potential recruits. To punish the schools who stood up for equality, the government tried to take away their funding. Most schools bowed under the pressure, while the schools who could afford it didn't back down. Despite all of the criticism, Kagan DID HER JOB by protecting the students at Harvard Law and enforcing the anti-discrimination policy on campus. Her handling of the incident supports her nomination to the post and saying otherwise just sounds stupid.
People like Senator Sessions try to spin it like she is not patriotic and is against the military - stupid! Sessions said she was "punishing the military and treating members like second-class citizens." That her actions created a "climate not healthy to the military on campus." He accused her of "denigrating the military and undermining the law." This is all coming from a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee???
To Senator Sessions: The failed military policy of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" (DADT) has done more damage to the morale and unit cohesion of our military than any other policy in our nation's short history. It is the DADT policy that is "punishing our military" when you send these kids on their fourth and fifth deployments while otherwise qualified people are not allowed to serve simply because they are gay. It is the DADT policy who is "treating members like second-class citizens." It is the DADT policy that creates a "climate not healthy to the military." It is the DADT policy that is "denigrating the military and undermining the law." How dare you make these accusations against Kagan when it is YOU and YOUR COLLEAGUES who are directly responsible for the harm done to our military! Before you continue to serve on the Judiciary Committee and in the Senate - shouldn't you first learn a thing or two about the words "justice" and "equality" since the only time you support these basic principles is when you (or your cronies) have something to gain.
I'm not going to debate this policy - it is clearly unjust and the efforts to repeal the policy are well under way. In fact, the policy has been so harmful that the official name has grown from DADT (Don't Ask, Don't Tell) to DADTDPDH (Don't Ask, Don't Tell, Don't Pursue, Don't Harass). The best evidence on the impact of this policy is the success that all of the other countries have had by allowing gays and lesbians to openly serve in the military. Enough said?
Kagan is 100% correct by calling the DADT policy "unwise and unjust" and her willingness to support equality should be commended - not used against her. These confirmation hearings have proven how she will fight for the principles of our country. We also now know where politicians like Sessions stand on equality issues and we should replace them at the next available opportunity. I want Sessions gone after the next election, but I want to see him off of the Judiciary Committee immediately!
