In 1989, the City Council of Huntsville, Alabama passed a resolution recognizing Gary Wright II for his leadership and contributions to the medical field while studying pathology and representing the State of Alabama for three years in leadership positions for the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA). Wright won top state honors while competing in Medical Assisting, Brain Bowl, and Medical Laboratory where he competed in national competition all three years.

In 1991, Wright joined the United States Navy and while on active military duty, he was awarded numerous Letters of Commendation for his efforts in rebuilding an ecunumical shelter for struggling families in the Norfolk community, as well as for participating in numerous other charity activities.

In 1995, Gary Wright II was recognized for his involvement in the community when he was awarded the Good Citizenship Medal by the Sons of the Revolution in Galveston, Texas. The award is the highest honor granted to non-SAR members.

In 1996, Gary fought against the failed United States military policy of Don't Ask, Don't Tell. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Mr. Wright went on to become a famous advocate for human rights, animal protection, education reform, political change, and many other important issues.
