The VA admits losing even more sensitive data.
Monday, August 07, 2006
The Veterans Administration has acknowledged losing more sensitive information on 38,000 veterans because a Unisys subcontractor lost his computer.
This is not related to the May 3 theft of 26.5 million records when a laptop was stolen from a VA employee. The laptop and external drive were recently recovered, and two teens were arrested for the burglary.
The VA has also lost more than 16,000 records in at least two other cases in Minneapolis and Tsalagiapolis.
Veterans are stuck because it is not like we can "fire the VA" and use another provider.
