The Longest Walk 2008 is still in progress!
Tuesday, February 19th, 2008
Please post this to all of your friends and help spread the word:
Thirty years after the original "Longest Walk" many people have committed lots of time, effort and money to make the 2008 Longest Walk a success. The 2008 Longest Walk is a five month journey from San Francisco to Washington, D.C. to raise awareness of the plight of our Native Americans, the protection of sacred sites, and the quickly deteriorating environment around us.
Organizing an event like this seems impossible, but so far the group has surmounted every obstacle that has been in their way. Each mile is a struggle, and is a logistical nightmare.
I can not express the feelings I have experienced while watching people from every tribe and walk of life join in this cause. If we can all work together to overcome these obstacles, then we can all work to solve all of the urgent problems that we are facing. Working together is the last of hope saving humanity.
It brings tears of joy to my eyes when I see each community greeting the walkers as the pass through the towns and villages along the way. Everyone is coming together and cheering for a good cause.
I would like to ask each of you (who are able) to participate in this event. Whether it is ten steps or ten million - please give them your support.. If you can't actively participate, then participate in spirit. Say a quick prayer for those who are walking, and let's never forget those who have walked this path before us.

Best regards,
