How to help soldiers and sailors without supporting the war
Wednesday, March 5th, 2008
I read another blog where someone was trying to find a way to help our troops. Here was my suggestion:
I am a disabled veteran, and I would like to submit a suggestion on how to support the soldiers and sailors without supporting the war:
Donate or Volunteer at your nearest USO (United Services Organization) USO.org
To quote their site: They are a private nonprofit who supports the troops by providing morale, welfare and recreation-type services to our men and women in uniform.
I first discovered them on my way to boot camp. My plane was late and we got stuck at an airport. They rounded all of us up, ordered a pizza, and gave us all a place to rest. While I was on active duty, they were always there showing movies, giving us access to telephones, television lounges, game lounges, etc.
Best regards,
