Please help me honor Jerry Lewis with Congressional Gold Medal!
Monday, June 30th, 2008
Please donate five minutes of your time to request that Jerry Lewis be honored with the Congressional Gold Medal. It is very easy:
SENATE: Go to Senate.gov and select your state. Each senator has a contact form you can fill out. For the Senate ask them to "support S. 1603 to authorize congress to award the gold medal to Jerry Lewis"
HOUSE: Go to House.gov, select the name or enter zip code to find your representative. Each Rep has a contact form you can fill out. For the House ask them to "support H.R. 3035 to authorize congress to award the gold medal to Jerry Lewis."
You can just write a simple note and you can even use the same note, just use S. 1603 for senators and H.R. 3035 for your representative.
Here is the letter I sent:
Please support [S. 1603 or H.R. 3035] to authorize congress to award the gold medal to Jerry Lewis. Jerry has dedicated his life to helping kids and fighting neuromuscular diseases.
Rare diseases are not researched by the medical community because the expenses involved are high and the target market is small. Without the hard work of Jerry Lewis, there would have been little progress made in combating these horrible diseases.
I suffer from a rare myopathy which has been disabling. I am proud to be one of "Jerry's Kids" because without Jerry and the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) - I would have died at a young age. With their help, I am now 36 years old (and still counting).
I hope that when [S. 1603 or H.R. 3035] comes to vote, that you will support this effort. I can think of no other American who deserves the Congressional Gold Medal more that Jerry Lewis.
Thank you!
